Meet Jake: A Story of Healing and Hope
Jake’s Journey of Recovery
With one surgery over, Jake now needs to build up muscle strength before undergoing a second procedure. This means PT swim time at Rocky’s Retreat, where Jake receives therapy treatments and wonderful care. Watch Jake’s therapy treatments and learn more about the two FHO surgeries he needs.
Handsome and Heartwarming
He’s a looker! Handsome, sweet, and a joy to be around, Jake is a typical pup who loves playing, spreading toys throughout his foster home, and spending time outside with his humans and canine friends. His charismatic personality wins over everyone he meets, and he loves them back just as much. Even his three older foster fur-buddies tolerate his youthful shenanigans, although they are quick to tell him when they’ve had enough. Jake even wants to be friends with cats, although the one he used to live with wasn’t very interested in a large, fluffy puppy.
Rejoining the GRRMF Family
GRRMF welcomed Jake with open paws when his previous family could no longer care for him. During his medical examination, it was determined that he has joint and hip problems and some difficulty with his front legs as well. An orthopedic consultation has been scheduled for Jake, and until then, he is receiving monthly injections to help with mobility.
Jake’s Resilience and Joy
Despite his current mobility problems, Jake remains resilient in his quest to have fun and enjoy life. His unique walk means you always know when he is on the move. Jake loves going to his favorite places outdoors to practice his new yoga pose—under the patio couch with his back legs resting on the wall! After a low-key, playful romp in the yard with the other dogs, he is ready for a nice nap on the cool concrete patio with the breeze blowing in his face.
Jake’s Playful Side
Jake’s angelic face makes you think he does nothing wrong, but he does enjoy chewing and spitting out mulch and has been caught doing a little digging—puppy stuff that his foster family is working on. He loves belly rubs, grooming, playing with toys, walks, and being around people of all ages. Jake isn’t a fan of getting in the car and needs some assistance right now, but once he’s in, he settles down. Jake is working on his leash walking, sit, leave it, and basic manners. He is almost fully house trained, isn’t crate trained but stays in a puppy-proofed room when his foster family is away.
A Happy Ending
Great news! Jake has been matched with a loving forever family who will continue to provide the care and affection he needs. His new family is excited to welcome this happy-go-lucky guy into their home, ensuring he has a lifetime of love and joy.
