Rufus & Lilly GivingTuesday 2024

Meet Rufus and Lily: The Dynamic Duo

A Happy Life Together

Rufus and Lily were living a happy life with their beloved owners. For 10 years, they were doted on, played with, and cherished by a retired couple. Sadly, life is unpredictable, and when the wife passed away, the husband could no longer care for their best friends. Heartbreakingly, he decided to let GRRMF find his favorite pair a second loving home.

Adjusting to Foster Care

According to their foster dad, “Rufus and Lily are so much fun!” As they lost weight, they both became more active. Their walks got longer, and they both had great leash manners. They learned the wait command and actually listened! Rufus and Lily would both calmly sit until the ok command was given. Remember, they were still seniors, so nap time was also important, and they enjoyed that as well.

Lily’s Playful Personality

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Well, they hadn’t met Lily then! This smarty-pants learned new commands and showed her fun-loving nature. Lily thought the toy box was the coolest thing. She would rummage through the treasure chest of assorted chew toys, ropes, balls, and squeaky dolls looking for just the right one. A big fan of hard bones, Lily also played fetch with a ball. As she lost some weight, her walks got longer, and she would run around the backyard a bit. Way to go, Lily!

Rufus’s Loving Nature

Rufus did great in his foster home. He learned new commands and, since losing some weight, his walks got longer. Pull out a rope toy, and Rufus was in for a good game of tug-of-war. If one of his foster parents wasn’t around to play with him, Rufus and his bonded sister, Lily, would happily play with each other. They also enjoyed chasing each other around the backyard for a little while too. What a good boy!

A Golden Heart

As you can see, Rufus and Lily are not golden retrievers, but they do have golden hearts. Sweet and cuddly, they have love to share with a new family. According to their foster dad, “Lily is a very sweet girl who really likes her belly rubs.” She enjoys short walks and is friendly to everyone she meets – both 4 and 2-legged. Lily is a gentle soul and is wonderful with children. Rufus, on the other hand, is a big chocolate furball who liked to follow his foster parents around the house. Not so much as a Velcro dog, more so to be close at hand to receive his much-loved ear scratches.

Perfect Companions Found a Forever Home Together

Great news! Rufus and Lily have been adopted by the same loving family, ensuring they can continue their adventures and enjoy their golden years together. Their new family is thrilled to provide them with the love, care, and companionship they deserve.
