Ann Sophia’s Success Story

Ann Sophia’s Success Story

Little did Ann, now called Annie, know that her foster home would be her forever home!

When Annie’s parents adopted her, she had already been an “unofficial” member of their family for two months. Known as the “the mama of the group,” Annie treats the family’s cat, Gracie, like one of her own. In fact, Gracie constantly goes to Annie to sleep next to her and Annie will lick/clean her.

Affectionate, attentive and obedient are three of Annie’s most endearing qualities. As soon as she started trusting her parents, she couldn’t get enough of cozying up to them and being petted and cuddled, cuddled and petted. She’s very, very good on leash when she goes for the walks she enjoys, and she gets in and out of cars with ease and grace to accompany her family on car rides. Fond of chasing lizards and walking leisurely around the pond to smell every smell and see all the ducks, Annie also likes visiting the beach and various parks, and playing with her favorite toy: a Gator toy (go Gators!).

Part of a doggy trio from whom she has learned so much, Annie has grown by leaps and bounds thanks to their gentle guidance. Her sister Charity, also a GRRMF alum, literally taught her how to be a dog when her family first fostered her. Initially fearful of so many things — from knowing what a leash was and going through doors to climbing onto the couch — Annie was an A+ student and now, among her other achievements, faithfully follows Charity and her brother Brewer, a boxer mix, up onto the couch!

Boasting a full and healthy coat now as well, Annie still suffers from allergies and chronic ear issues due to years of neglect, but she receives allergy shots and gets treated for ear infections when they get bad – taking it all in classic golden stride. On the lighter/sillier side of things: Annie nudges her parents to get them to pet her. And although she never barks, she does do a cute howl if her dad DARES take the other dogs for a walk and she’s not invited.

Thanks to multiple training sessions, Annie now knows many commands, including “sit” and “place.” Not only does she truly want to please her parents, she loves having a pet family (including calico cutie, Gracie, of course). To say that her parents adore her and are so proud of her is putting it mildly.
